About Foundry
Risk Advisors

Insurance Should Be the Result of the Conversation — Not the Beginning.

Foundry Risk Advisors was built around a simple idea: businesses deserve a better way to understand risk.

Traditional insurance conversations often begin with policies, applications and renewals. We believe the conversation should begin earlier, with a more important question:

What could seriously hurt this business?

What could interrupt operations, damage the balance sheet, create a cyber event, expose the organization or its leadership to liability, or threaten its reputation?

And perhaps most importantly, which of those risks does management understand — and which are hiding in plain sight?

That is why we built Foundry differently.

EXPERTISE

Deep experience across cyber, operations, insurance, and digital risk.

INDEPENDENT

Objective advice. No conflicts. Your interests first.

COLLABORATIVE

We work with your leadership team, not around it.

FOCUSED

Our focus is clear: protecting business resilience and performance.

We Start With the Business

Our approach combines business-risk discovery, education and insurance expertise to help organizations identify and prioritize meaningful exposures before deciding how those risks should be treated.

Some risks should be mitigated.

Some should be transferred through insurance.

Some can be financed.

And some can be knowingly accepted.

The important word is knowingly.

This philosophy led to the development of The Foundry Method — our structured approach to examining risk across the business rather than looking at insurance coverage in isolation.

The objective isn't to create a longer list of things to worry about. It's to identify the risks that matter, understand their potential consequences and help leadership make better decisions about them.

Built From Experience Beyond Insurance

Foundry's perspective was shaped by experience extending well beyond the traditional insurance industry.

Managing Partner Bob Farrell's career has spanned business development, medical and higher-education publishing, technology, data, digital education and insurance distribution.

Early in his career, Bob founded a business focused on developing medical information and database products. His work later expanded into digital education and SaaS development, collaborating with faculty and institutions across higher education.

Over the course of that work, he developed and published educational products with faculty associated with leading institutions including Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Penn State, the University of Washington, the University of Texas and Pepperdine, among others.

Working across complex disciplines and organizations reinforced a principle that would eventually become central to Foundry:

Information has little value until it helps someone make a better decision.

Today, that same principle sits at the center of our approach to risk.

Bob later brought that perspective into insurance business development and distribution, including experience with The General and ICA Agency Alliance, gaining firsthand exposure to carrier relationships, agency development, distribution and the challenges businesses and insurance professionals face navigating an increasingly complex marketplace.

Foundry grew from the belief that insurance professionals can do more than simply place coverage. We can help businesses understand risk before deciding what to do about it.

And while Bob's experience helped shape that philosophy, Foundry was never intended to be built around one person's résumé. It was created around a broader belief that the insurance industry can do a better job connecting business risk, education, risk treatment and insurance.

Complex Risk Requires Better Questions

Today's businesses face exposures that don't always fit neatly into a standard insurance conversation — particularly cyber, operational, professional, financial and governance risks.

As those exposures become more complex, thoughtful risk analysis and access to specialized insurance markets become increasingly important.

Foundry is developing relationships across the specialty insurance marketplace, including cyber, excess and surplus lines and other specialty markets, so that when risk transfer is appropriate, we can pursue solutions designed for the exposure rather than forcing the exposure into a predetermined product.

Our philosophy is straightforward:

Diagnose first. Treat second. Insure where appropriate.

Resilience Is the Goal

We don't believe success is measured simply by whether a policy was sold.

A successful engagement should leave a business better informed about its exposures, better prepared to address them and more resilient when something inevitably goes wrong.

Because risk can never be completely eliminated.

It can be understood.

It can be managed.

It can be financed.

It can be transferred.

And organizations can prepare for it.

Risk Is Inevitable. Resilience Is a Choice.
